StudioRam joins the NVIDIA Inception program

StudioRam is now a member of NVIDIA Inception, NVIDIA's program for startups building on accelerated computing. Here is what that actually is, what it is not, and the one part of it that matters if you are paying us to render animation.

NVIDIA Inception Program

What Inception is

Inception is NVIDIA's startup program. Members get access to NVIDIA's engineering and developer resources, technical training, cloud and hardware credits through NVIDIA's partners, and introductions into NVIDIA's ecosystem — other startups, cloud providers, and the investors who follow the program. There are thousands of members. It is free to join and you apply.

What it is not

It is not funding. NVIDIA has not invested in StudioRam. It is not an endorsement of our product — nobody at NVIDIA has reviewed our output and pronounced it good, and we would not claim they had. And it is not a certification: joining Inception says we are a startup building on accelerated computing, which we are. It says nothing on its own about whether the animation we make is any good.

We are stating that plainly because badges on a homepage are easy to over-read, and we would rather you read this one correctly.

Why it matters here anyway

Because for a company like ours, the product is a GPU bill.

Every finished scene StudioRam hands back is GPU time that somebody paid for. Part of our pipeline runs on GPUs we rent directly. The rest runs against hosted generation services we pay for by the second. Both are the same line item wearing different clothes, and that line item is what decides the two things you actually feel: how long a scene takes, and what a scene costs.

That is the whole reason our pricing looks the way it does — a fixed price per scene rather than a seat licence — and the reason we have spent months on unglamorous things like rendering the shots in a scene in parallel instead of one after another. Cheaper compute and better use of it is not an infrastructure detail we find interesting. It is the only lever that moves the price on our pricing page downward.

The honest version: nothing about your account changed today. No prices moved, no render got faster, no feature unlocked. What changed is our access to the credits, tooling and engineering help that make those things possible to attempt. We will write about it again when there is a number attached.

Where you will see the badge

Three marks now sit under the hero on this site and in the footer of create.studioram.app: NVIDIA Inception, Google for Startups, and Founder University. Same three in both places, deliberately small. They are there so that someone deciding whether to trust a small studio with a production budget can see who we are standing next to — not as a substitute for the work, which is on the homepage.

What we are actually building

StudioRam makes animated series. You write a scene, pick or upload your characters, and get finished animation back with the same character in every shot — the consistency problem being the thing that makes most AI video unusable for anything longer than a clip. We wrote about why that is hard, and what we do about it, in why StudioRam exists.

If you would rather not operate any of it, we also produce episodes to brief. That is on the business page.
